Many have been asked: what about Yvan?!?

Yvan has taken the time to write a message which I herewith attach (YC Message written by Yvan wife in January 2013 ENG.docx and YC Message written by Yvan 27 May 2013 ENG FR.docx). I have also included Kate’s message after the New Year.

The message is about the generosity more than about Yvan who, on a day to day basis, keeps going through rough and tough patches.

Please kindly take the time to act as a relay and send this update to all the people that you might have been in contact with so they relay the message further (School, Consulate, etc.).

It is not to say “and they lived happily ever after…” but there won’t be any more updates from “the friends of Yvan” to the people at large.

My infinite thanks, as always, for taking the time and everything you did yesterday, now and tomorrow.

Warmest Regards

Beatrice

Update on the Bone Marrow transplant (28 august 2012)

Hello there,

I hope this email finds you all rested and inspired during a long beautiful summer.

Yes, a donor is found and the transplant is planned for sometime in October!

About mid August, a perfect match was found: an unrelated donor in the German Bone Marrow Registry.

Before that, there were about 4 donors identified in both Hong Kong and Germany but deeper investigations showed the matches were not perfect. Then there were few setbacks as the transplant initially planned for September had been delayed to October by the German part. It meant one to two more rounds of chemotherapy to keep the Leukaemia at bay while waiting for the transplant. Just when he was supposed to return to the hospital, Yvan contracted last week a nasty bacteria which triggered very high fever and all treatment postponement until he fully recovers.

All in all, spirit is better than last week emotional rollercoaster. Yvan now prepares himself mentally for the transplant and what will happen during the two months in full isolation room.

Both Yvan and Kate, celebrating their birthdays in August, feel surely one year wiser.

I am sorry to do not have been in touch with each and every one individually but news were changing constantly.

I will be in touch with Lenny, Bianca, Fred on a separate note to update our communication platforms but please feel free to spread the words if you wish to.

Speak soon,

Best,

Beatrice
